Hoki Management Areas
These areas are where there is high abundance of juvenile Hoki.
The management areas are not official, they are an industry driven management initiative with restrictions on trawling in place. There are four areas - Cook Strait, Mernoo Bank, Canterbury Banks, Puysegur Bank.
Below are three of the 4 areas:

Hoki Substock Areas
These are unofficial administration areas which split the New Zealand Hoki stock into an east and west portion. There are voluntary catch limits set by industry and the Ministry of Fisheries within each of the areas to better manage the Hoki stock.
The Hoki Substock boundaries split the HOK1 Quota Management Area into 2 substocks. Here they are shown with Hoki Management Areas:

Commercial Foreign Fishing Vessel Regulations
Restrictions on commercial fishing by foreign vessels within New Zealand waters. These areas are defined in the Fisheries (Foreign Fishing Vessel) Regulations 2001. There are three types of fishing affected by the regulations:
- trawling and bottom-lining
- squid jigging
- fishing under highly migratory species license

New Rohe Moana for Kawhia Harbour
Ngäti Hikairo, Ngäti Mahuta and Ngäti Maniapoto Iwi now have a gazetted rohe moana covering Kawhia harbour.

New Mätaitai Reserves down south
Five new mätaitai reserves have been gazetted. Shown below are Horomamae and Kaihuka to the south east of Stewart Island. Also gazetted are: Oreti (Invercargill), Pikomamaku (Muttonbird Islands) and Wairewa/Lake Forsyth.

Iwi Fisheries Protocol Areas updated
These have been renamed from 'Deed of Settlement Areas'. The lineage document has been updated to include more information about this map and the areas themselves: Iwi Fisheries Protocol Areas Lineage.pdf.
The Waikato-Tainui Accord has been added to this map layer:
