BOMEC
The Benthic Optimised Marine Environment Classification has been loaded onto NABIS.
This layer shows the extent of coverage of 15 environmental classes within the New Zealand EEZ by commercial trawling contact with the seabed.

Aquaculture Settlement Areas
Two new Aquaculture Settlement Areas have been legislated (see below) and the 'Port Gore North' site has been spatially modified.
Submarine Cable Closures
Two Submarine Cable Closures have been added. Both of these closures were legislated in 2008 and are known as the 'Maari Development' and 'Kupe Gas Project' closures.
Mataitai Reserves
Five new Mataitai Reserves have been legislated:
* Toka Tamure (Mahia Peninsula)
* Horokaka (Mahia Peninsula)
* Te Hoe (Mahia Peninsula)
* Okarito Lagoon (West Coast South Island)
* Waihao (near Waimate)
Rohe Moana
Two new Rohe Moana have been added (Ngati Kuta/Patukeha and Kahungunu ki Te Matau a Maui) and Rongomaiwahine has been spatially altered. Katiaki have also been amended and are up to date as at 1 September 2012.
Central Commercial and Amateur Fishing Restrictions
New restrictions introduced for the purpose of protecting endangered Maui's Dolphins have been put in place.
Species layers updated
13 Seabird Annual Distributions have been updated.
136 Finfish Distributions have been updated.
