May 2010 NABIS updates...

Here is what is new for May:
New functionality:
Data view has an export option so you can view and save the data in Microsoft Excel.
Data updates:
NEW Field Operations hubs
NEW Benthic protection areas and coordinates
NEW Aerial survey of recreational fishing
NEW Frilled venus shell and Large trough shell QMAs
UPDATED Section 186 temporary closures
UPDATED Rohe moana
UPDATED Selected commercial fishing regulations
UPDATED Commercial catch and effort data has been updated to December 2009

New functionality

Export function for data view:
Clicking the export functions allows you to save or open all the underlying data for a map layer.
To do this select dataview from the legend:

Then select the export button to save or open it in a Microsoft Excel format:

Data updates |

Field Operations layers renamed and "Hubs" added.
What were called Compliance layers are now called Field Operations to reflect organisational changes.
A new layer has been added and this shows the three main Field Operations 'hubs' that determine the areas of responsibility for regional management. The country is divided into North, Central and South:

Five data layers re-added to NABIS:
Benthic Protection Areas & coordinates
Quota Management Areas (QMAs) for Frilled venus shell & Large trough shell
Aerial survey of recreational fishing:

Customary area updates:
1) Kaipara harbour and Mount Maunganui temporary closures (Section 186 of the Fisheries Act) have expired.
2) two new rohe moana/rohe awa around Raglan Harbour:

Commercial regulations updated due to legislative changes:
Challenger Commercial Regulations
Improvements to the accuracy of attribute data following regulatory changes in 2008.
Southland and Sub Antarctic Commercial Regulations

Behind the scenes we are working on a new map control so zooming and panning around the map will be much nicer to use.
The Deed of Settlement areas are to be updated and the Hector and Maui dolphin stranding database is to be loaded. We will we continue to add and update other map data.
