July 2010 NABIS updates...
Hi All,
You will notice NABIS looks a bit different this month. We have focussed on getting out some new functionality that will make NABIS easier to use.
New functionality:
New map control (for zooming and moving the map). It is more intuitive and much easier to use.
New scale bar and a hideable overview map.
Streamlined map buttons - some were no longer needed due to the new map control and have been removed.
Latitude and longitude reporting moved to central location.
New latitude and longitude markers with a grid for map window.
Data updated:
Deed of Settlement Areas were updated in June.
The Hectors and Maui dolphin strandings data set has also been refreshed with the latest data.

New functionality

New intuitive map control
Roll your mouse wheel to zoom in and out. Or use the zoom bar that is now in the map window.
Panning is a simple click and drag.
To zoom to a specific area - hold down shift and click and drag a box with your mouse
On the map changes include:
- New zoom and pan tool (top left).
- Scale bar with both kilometres and nautical mile distances displayed.
- New mini map (bottom right) that can be hidden by clicking the black cross next to it.

Map control buttons streamlined
Due to the new map control you may notice the move map and zooming functions have gone. The map tools have a new simplified look.
Lat/long reporting has moved to sit under the tools
As you move your mouse across the map latitude and longitude position will be displayed under the main map tools.
Here are the changes:

Lat/long markers and grid added to customise options
Enter the customise page by clicking the 'customise' button (above map window) to select and show a grid with latitude and longitudes labelled on your map:

The grid and markers will be displayed overlaid on your map:

Deed of Settlement areas updated

Hectors and Maui dolphin strandings database updated
This is a map layer of stranding locations and can be found under the SPECIES topic for either Hectors or Maui dolphins.
The latest locations have been loaded.
Hectors dolphin strandings in the east of Te Waewae Bay:

Look out for new data coming very soon. Updates include:
- Hoki management and substock areas
- New rohe moana
- New mätaitai reserves
- Deed of Settlement - addition of the Waikato-Tainui Accord area.
- Foreign fishing vessel regulations.
