WEB MAP SERVICE (WMS)

The Ministry of Fisheries spatial data infrastructure (SDI) makes 98 maps available via a web map service that implements the OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium) standard.  A web map service allows a person or another computer system to request a map image.  The request can be altered to determine how the map comes out; colours, size and other display related properties can be specified.

Example

By clicking on the hyper link below you will make a web map service request for the SDI to send you the Annual distribution of Blue cod map.

If everything works as expected, the SDI will return the map as an image like the one below in a .PNG file format.
