Accessing Data View
Introduction
Data View lets you browse underlying textual information for all of the features in a layer in a spreadsheet-like format. A layer is made up of features which can be either points, lines or polygons. These features can be represented by a symbol, text, line or an area. These features also have text information attached to them called attribute data. Attribute includes information like the features name, features size, or where the legal definition of a feature can be found. Attribute data can be viewed by using the 'Data View' or the 'What's Here?' tool. Data view can be used to view attribute information and highlight, select and sort features. You may also export the information from data view.

- The 'Data View' page appears, showing the objects on the layer in a table.
|
| Browse Objects |
- The scroll bars at the side and bottom of the table let you browse the objects to find those of interest.
- If there are too many objects for one page, you can move from page to page using the 'Previous [1] [2] Next' page selection hyperlinks.
|
| Select Objects |
- The tick boxes on the left of the table let you select objects by clicking in the box.
- To remove a tick, click the ticked box again.
|
| Sorting Using Column Titles |
- If you click on a column title the table will be sorted in ascending order on the data in that column. Click the same title again to sort descending.
|

- NOTE - some selections may not be shown if the map layer has a maximum zoom level set. For example if the map is set to come on below a window width of 100km. If you selected more than one feature and they are further apart than 100km they will not show up as the map has to zoom out to encompass both of them.
